On Thursday 14th September 2017, an audience of around 80 professionals gathered at Smith & Williamson’s stunning fourth floor venue, with views over Bristol’s skyline, to hear about and debate global sustainability trends and who – if anyone – will be leading the world in the coming years.

After an arrival to a drinks reception, the audience joined our panel of speakers representing Europe, Asia and the United States of America, join us for an evening debate investigating some of the major global players and their efforts towards paradigm shifts in carbon, energy and resource.

Dave Mouncey, Partner at Smith & Williamson, compered the night and represented the United States.

Europe was represented by Bethany Ledingham, Consultant at Eunomia Research & Consultancy

Dr Alexander Clarke,  teaching Fellow in renewable energy at the University of Bath, shared his thought provoking viewpoints on energy policy and global initiatives from the perspective of Asia.

The presentations were followed by open – and lively – debate with the panel, with speakers being questioned on everything from renewed support for coal, how we can increase public support for sustainability and how could the sector as a whole could reach the tipping point suggested by Tesla’s growth.

This was the second in our summer series of evening events in partnership with Smith & Williamson, investigating the most pressing issues and upcoming developments affecting low carbon industries, with the programme kicking off again in 2018. We would like to thank all our speakers, audience and especially Smith & Williamson for hosting and their continued support.
