The annual event offers 36 of the most promising entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their game-changing, low-carbon innovations to over 350 active funders, corporates, support agencies and the media.
36 companies, the list of which can be seen here, have been hand-picked by the Cleantech Innovate 2018 Selection Committee from a highly competitive field of close to 100 applicants.
The shortlisted companies span a wide range of sectors, including transport, agri-tech, energy, waste, water generation, and air quality. As well as featuring a range of UK-based companies, the list includes innovative start-ups from Chile, Ireland, India, Switzerland, and Germany.
The shortlist comes hot on the heels of the announcement earlier this week that Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, will be the headline partner for Cleantech Innovate UK, joining cleantech investment specialists Greenbackers Investment Capital and international intellectual property firm Marks & Clerk as partners for the event.
Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive of We Are Orchard Ltd and Cleantech Innovate 2018 Selection Committee member said:
“Selecting just 36 out of close to 100 innovative start-ups who are looking to change the world was a huge challenge but one that the Selection Committee relished. We were blown away by the breadth and strength of the applications, and I can’t wait to see the shortlisted companies pitch their ideas in March to a theatre full of eagle-eyed investors looking for the next big thing in cleantech.”
